Hanover Area resuming in-person classes Monday

The district suspended in-person learning Wednesday and Thursday for the White group due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The district currently has a hybrid learning that mixes online and in-person learning for two groups of students, and each group alternates weeks with four days of in-person learning. Friday is a building sanitization day with online learning for both groups. All students were on spring break Monday or Tuesday, so those days were not impacted by the decision announced Monday to suspend in-person learning. A total of 10 students and employees had tested positive for COVID-19, and 83 were in quarantine waiting for test results, Superintendent Nathan Barrett said Monday.

COVID-19 vaccine available today at Hanover Area

A vaccine clinic being operated by the Hanover Area School District has a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines available today. The clinic is co-hosting the clinic with Walmart at its high school, and had been splitting up the vaccine allocation with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Superintendent Nathan Barrett said. However, the department did not notify patients about the appointment availability, resulting in about 180 unassigned vaccines being on the premises, he said. Anyone interested in receiving a vaccine is asked to report to the high school gym to be assessed for eligibility, he said. Those who receive a vaccine today will get an appointment to receive the second dose at a later date.
