SRINAGAR, Apr 10: The J&K Government is working on robust and efficient digital network infrastructure in the hinterland to provide transparent financial services to the people. The aim is to bridge the gap between rural & urban pockets, and ensure that easy credit is accessible to all those interested in starting their own business ventures.
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha made these remarks during his address at a day-long conference on “Education to Entrepreneurship” here at SKICC.

Unfortunately, Punjab has been in the throes of an employment crisis for some years now, but, gravely, the severe blow dealt by the pandemic-induced lockdown seems to have aggravated the situation. The educated youth engaged in or aiming for salaried placements have borne the brunt of job losses and contraction of the economy. This is apparent from the fact that 1,152 posts of patwari recently thrown open have drawn as many as 2.33 lakh aspirants. The huge number of overqualified youths seeking this comparatively low-level government job further reflects the desperate state of affairs.

Higher income households to drive revival in consumer spending, says CMIE

Data shows consumer sentiments in March 2021 were down by 46.8% compared to the average in 2019-20,. However, the consumer sentiments of households with annual incomes of less than Rs 400,000 was about 43% than the index in 2019-20 while the consumer sentiments of households with incomes between Rs 400,000 and Rs1,000,000 was about 55% lower than in 2019-20.

“India’s revival in consumer spending is likely to be driven by households that earn more than a million rupees a year when the lockdown is lifted,” CMIE said in its weekly analysis.
