District Minister goes on an inspection-spree

Mysore/Mysuru: District Minister S.T. Somashekar went on an inspection-spree in city yesterday to review civic amenities in newly-formed layouts. Somashekar first visited the 13 MLD capacity overhead tank built in Vijayanagar Fourth Stage for supply of water to the residents of the locality. As the officials explained that the height of the pumping motor fixed at the site was posing a problem for water supply, the Minister directed them to lower the level of the pump in accordance with the requirement. He asked the officials to finish the civil works needed for the purpose in a month. After the inspection, the Minister interacted with members of the public, during which Vijayanagar residents poured out their grievances. The residents complained about indiscreet dumping of construction debris and other wastes along the Ring road passing through the layout, overgrown bushes and trees along the road which has posed problems for motorists, potholed roads and many other civic issues c

MUDA razes five illegal commercial shops

Mysore/Mysuru: In an early-morning demolition drive, the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) demolished a commercial complex with five shops that were being built illegally opposite the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway. The land belonged to MUDA.  The demolition drive that began at 6 am was carried out under Police protection and earth-movers were used for the task. In a press release, MUDA Commissioner Dr. D.B. Natesh said that the commercial shops were being built at Belavatha village Survey Number 295 opposite the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway (to the north of Shobha Garden Layout).  The press release said that despite several warnings, the owner of the commercial complex went ahead and had raised the building. The order to raze the structures was issued by the Commissioner and the land was reclaimed. 

MUDA Chairman Rajeev inspects ongoing works

Mysore/Mysuru: In a bid to expedite ongoing projects, Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H.V. Rajeev inspected several  ongoing major Civil and other infrastructure works in and around the city this morning. He first visited water storage tank at Vijayanagar First stage, where works are underway for 24×7 drinking water supply. Later, he inspected the widening and development works of the road leading from CITB Kalyana Mantap at Hebbal to the Outer Ring Road. This road widening and other associated civil works have been taken up at  an estimated cost of Rs. 4.98 crore. The works include asphaltation of 3.15 km stretch, construction of median and carriageway of 7.5 mt. width on both sides, building box drainages along the road wherever necessary and  cobble stone pavement  of footpath       on either side.
