BINS4Blokes to stay in public toilets at City of Salisbury
Council will permanently provide sanitary bins in male public toilets across the City, after becoming the first South Australian metropolitan council to trial the BINS4Blokes initiative last year.
According to the Continence Foundation of Australia – which leads the BINS4Blokes initiative – incontinence is an issue affecting more than 1.3 million boys and men.
However there are very few male toilets in public spaces which offer sanitary bins for the disposal of incontinence products.
Following a year-long trial, Council has moved to supply bins in all occupied buildings and public toilets on an ongoing basis.

“The fear of not having access to toilets in public can restrict, and even stop, people from leaving their home for everyday activities,” Continence Foundation of Australia CEO Rowan Cockerell said.
“There are small towns, bigger regional areas, parks and service stations, not to mention new builds of community centres and play areas that are coming online all the time.
“We are keen for people to share local knowledge to support Australians living with continence issues.”
The great dunny hunt asks people travelling across the country to download an app and list regional toilets, for a chance to win one of three $500 Eftpos vouchers.
