Public confidence in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) has been boosted after the government removed the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine and made it an opt-in choice for the public instead, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said, referring to data on the matter.
He said that the voluntary programme was created due to vaccine hesitancy over the British-manufactured vaccine.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians outside Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are now eagerly awaiting the rollout of the AstraZeneca vaccine opt-in programme in other states.
The announcement was well received, with many Malaysians responding with excitement while some advocated for states with higher Covid-19 caseloads to be prioritised.

Klang Valleyans should start receiving their AstraZeneca (AZ) Covid-19 vaccine appointments today (3 May), said Science, Technology & Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin following the government’s open call for the public to volunteer for early inoculations.
Khairy, who’s leading the National Immunization Program (PICK), explained on social media that Selangor and Kuala Lumpur residents who’ve booked themselves a spot for the jab will be notified via the MySejahtera mobile application.

PETALING JAYA: All AstraZeneca vaccination slots were taken up in about three and a half hours after registration opened on Sunday (May 2) noon.
At around 3.20pm, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin tweeted that all 268,800 slots at four vaccination centres in the Klang Valley had been taken up but the public could still put themselves on the waiting list.
He also apologised for the initial glitches the public had to initially endure in the first few minutes after registrations were open.
“All AstraZeneca slots are fully booked. My apologies for the initial glitch and multiple refreshes, ” he said in a tweet.
