PETALING JAYA: Vaccination appointment notifications for the second phase of the National Covid-19 Vaccination programme will be sent out starting Monday (April 5). Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said recipients in Phase 2 will receive notifications 14 days before their appointment. We hope they will do their best to keep their appointments to avoid wasting the vaccine, he said at the weekly press conference on the progress of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme on Monday. The second phase of the vaccination programme will start on April 19 and will cover those above 60, those with co-morbidities as well as people with disabilities (OKU).

Benefits of AstraZeneca vaccine outweigh adverse effects, says Health DG

It will continue, there is no reason why we should stop it, said the Health director-general. He was asked about Malaysia’s plan to decide on the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine following cases of blood clots and deaths in the United Kingdom. Dr Noor Hisham said there were reports of adverse effects from some countries using the vaccine. He said they have put on hold the usage of the vaccine for a while to look into the link between blood clots and its side effects. Looking into the incidents, they are very rare, the benefits outweigh the risks. Nonetheless, we must be very careful on the use of AstraZeneca, he told reporters after visiting the Tuaran district hospital about 40km from here on Sunday (April 4).
