LONDON – Qatar Airways (QR) is set to become the first airline in the Middle East to begin trialing IATA’s new ‘Digital Passport’ mobile app in March.
The first phase of the trials of the new Travel Pass initiative will be rolled out on the airline’s Doha-Istanbul route, enabling passengers to receive COVID-19 test results and verify they are eligible to undertake their journey. It will also allow travelers to safely and securely share their verified ‘OK to Travel’ status with the airline and other stakeholders prior to their arrival at the airport.

Doha-based Qatar Airways has expanded its operations in Africa, with more than 100 weekly flights connecting via Hamad International Airport.
South Africa’s weekly flight count will increase to 26, with additional operations in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.
And while Qatar Airways hopes to capitalise on the grounding of its main Middle Eastern competitors, Doha remains off limits to South African travellers and can only be used as a transit point.

LONDON – Qatar Airways (QR) has announced it will add its 12th gateway in the US with four-weekly flights to Atlanta (ATL) starting June 1.
The carrier will also significantly increase frequencies, adding an additional 13 weekly flights to operate a total of 83 weekly flights across its 12 gateways.

In line with the airline’s steady rebuild of its US network, QR plans to resume services and increase frequencies to several destinations:
Atlanta (four weekly flights starting 1st June)
(21 Jan 2021) Qatar Airways has confirmed that it will resume flights to Atlanta on 1 June.
The airline will operate the route with four flights per week.
Qatar Airways will also add 13 weekly flights to operate a total of 83 weekly flights across its 12 gateways in the U.S.

(18 Jan 2021) Qatar Airways has received the 5-Star COVID19 Airline Safety rating by Skytrax.
The rating follows a detailed audit, carried out by the Skytrax team in December 2020, which assessed how effectively and consistently the airline’s COVID19 hygiene and safety standards and procedures are adhered to, from flight check-in to on-board aircraft.
The audit included a full review of procedural efficiency checks, visual observation of hygiene and safety levels at all stages of the passenger journey, and on-board Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) sampling tests to measure the potential level of contamination of contact surfaces.
Qatar Airways’ home and hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA)received a Skytrax 5-Star COVID19 Airport Safety Rating in December 2020.
