Qatar Airways (QA) Cargo recently transported seven rescued lions to their natural habitat free of charge under its ‘Rewild the Planet’ initiative.
Extending its support to the non-profit organization Warrior of Wildlife (WOW), QA Cargo flew three lions, one lioness and three cubs in a three-day trip from Kiev to Doha and Johannesburg.
On April 29, the Kouga and Swinburne nature reserves in South Africa welcomed the lions who were able to walk on grass for the first time in their lives.
The entire operation was carried out over a period of six months and involved twelve departments and more than 50 employees to ensure its success.
Qatar Airways (QA) Cargo, the world’s leading air cargo carrier, has welcomed three brand new Boeing 777 freighters to its fleet.
With the delivery of the new freighters yesterday, QA Cargo now has a total freighter fleet count of 30 freighters. These include two Boeing 747 freighters, 24 Boeing 777 Freighters and four Airbus A330 freighters.
The brand new freighters will be used for QA Cargo’s long haul scheduled routes. Additionally, they will serve as cargo charters, supporting global trade and the movement of time and temperature-sensitive goods.
QA Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, commented, “With the arrival of these new freighters, we are injecting much-needed capacity in the market helping support global supply chains at a critical time during the pandemic.
