Kathy Powers
The presentation will be led by UNM Associate Professor Kathy Powers and public health expert and alumna Cora Neumann.
Neumann and Powers will share their extensive international work in institution building, restorative justice, economic development and public health during the pandemic. They will explore the successes and failures of international institutions and strategies in order to meet the legal, economic and health challenges facing developing nations.
Cora Neumann
From their different perspectives, Neumann and Powers believe that western-designed international organizations and programs are often inappropriate in culturally and economically different settings, and meaningful change is often leveraged in unique, surprising ways. They will also turn the lens back on America to explore how lessons gained from Asia and Africa may help meet critical economic, political and health challenges.

Looking Ahead in 2021
The club last met in person as a group on March 10, 2020. Since that time, we have worked hard to support our club members and their families in a variety of ways: phone calls, emails, correspondence through the mail, meetings via Zoom, in person outdoor meetings both at the center and at family’s homes.
We are hopeful that 2021 will bring the club back to the center again. Until such time, we will continue to provide support as best we can. If you have been caring for a loved one at home and need suggestions on activities, or questions about care giving, the center staff might be a good resource for you and your loved one. Please call Kathy Powers for more information at 508-359-3665.
