The National Capital Commission is providing space for activities to promote physical and mental well-being this weekend. Here is a look at the road closures:
Queen Elizabeth Driveway (2.4 kilometres): 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway, located on the west side of the Rideau Canal, from Fifth Avenue to Somerset Street.
Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (9 kilometres): 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both westbound lanes of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, located on the south side of the Ottawa River just west of the downtown core, from Booth Street to Carling Avenue.
Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway (8 kilometres): 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Monday, the federal budget allocated resources and attention to not only a possible new transit loop between Ottawa and Gatineau, but also a new interprovincial crossing. But as the finance minister was delivering the news, dozens of motorists were lined up on the existing bridges, in queues stretching several kilometres, waiting for official permission to cross from one part of our community into another.
Is that irony or coincidence? Either way, it was ridiculous. And it underscored that while Ottawa is only a four-hour drive from Queen’s Park, it sometimes seems as far away as the Ingenuity helicopter on Mars.

I’m talking to busy, charming Rick Nelson, longtime curator of the Old Mill Heritage Centre in Kagawong on Manitoulin Island. The museum has become an established, wonderful place to spend time and to learn the history of Billings Township and other parts of Manitoulin.
Prior to it being designated a museum, that portion of the Old Mill had been the centre for community social events, but after the Park Centre was built up the street, public events switched to that establishment. When Rick became curator in the summer of 2007, the Old Mill building was empty except for the municipal office and art gallery sections. The building was ready for a new purpose.

In 2017, as Chairman of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation, W. Galen Weston and his family generously donated $2 million to support the successful completion of the Canadian Museum of History s signature exhibition, the
Canadian History Hall. The Hall opened to the public on July 1, 2017 the 150th anniversary of Confederation.
In recognition of this important contribution, Gallery 3 of the Hall was named
