Share I’ve always been attracted to single-make championships. Unlike Formula 1, in which results are arguably determined by the better car, the idea with a single-specification series is that all cars in it are equally prepared and driving talent rises to the top. Over the years, I’ve competed in a number of these single-make events, including Viper Cup, MX-5, and Superlites in the Lucas Oil short track off-road racing series. Nissan s Micra Cup gets a jolt of Sentra

Nissan Jean-François Dumoulin, who normally races in NASCAR’s Pinty series, was the first racer to test the new prototype Sentra (developed by Quebec’s Motorsports in Action) and says the new car “is definitely a leap forward for one-make racing.” OK, so it’s faster. But how’s it going to get bigger? at least 15 new Sentras According to Jacques Deshaies, president of series organizer JD Motorsport, there’s still a lot of love amongst racers for the miniscule little Micra. So much, in fact, that Deshaies has decided to run the two series concurrently – Sentras and Micras sharing the same track but racing in two distinct series. But, with Dehaies promising at least 15 new Sentras will be joining some 20 old-school Micras at Bowmanville, Ontario’s Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s opener in May, it’s shaping up to be the biggest grid in the Cup’s history.
