Collective labour agreement negotiations have led to a tentative deal struck between the City of Belleville and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 907.
Negotiators met Thursday with an Ontario-appointed mediator to secure the new contract for 200 frontline inside and outside city workers to avoid a strike or lockout Monday.

Contract talks between the parties stretched past midnight Thursday.
Union members will vote online Saturday and Sunday to ratify the five-year tentative collective bargaining agreement, details of which will be released when city council is asked to approve the contract when it next meets March 8.

No word on the progress or outcome of the labour talks was immediately available.
