Mustafa Ahmed has been known as many things: spoken-word poet; folk singer; pop songwriter; documentary filmmaker; devout Muslim; Halal Gang representative; spokesperson for his Regent Park community; child of Sudanese immigrants; former member of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Youth Advisory Board; one time Pan American Games Poet Laureate; collaborator of acts like Majid Jordan, The Weeknd and Khalid; brother; friend; provider.
When he was younger, Mustafa was able to drift through sub-communities and spaces - mosques, playgrounds and theatres - that served various aspects of the identity he was carving for himself without being labeled as any one thing, or confined to a singular narrative. However, as his visibility has grown, he’s found that the understanding and allowance of what he refers to as a “fullness of experience” has shrunken.

Reps. Michelle Fischbach, Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber, all R-Minn., introduced the ANGLE Act, along with legislation to create a corridor that would facilitate cross-border travel for people with negative COVID-19 tests. COLUMBIA, South Carolina — South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster has issued an executive order allowing parents to opt their children out of wearing masks in public schools.
SALEM, Ore. â Oregonâs government has set vaccination targets that officials hope will lead to the reopening of the stateâs economy.
Gov. Kate Brown said Tuesday most statewide pandemic restrictions will be lifted when 70% of Oregonâs residents 16 and older get the first coronavirus vaccine dose. In addition, individual counties can move into the âlower riskâ category for restrictions once 65% of the areaâs eligible population is vaccinated.
Currently, 35% of Oregonâs people are fully vaccinated.
Brown cautions that Oregon may continue to require the use of masks and physical distancing.
Just last month, the governor put 15 Oregon counties into the âextreme riskâ category that bans indoor dining and significantly reduces gym and indoor entertainment capacities due to increasing COVID-19 cases.
