Many people have received calls from health officials regarding their exposure to COVID-19 positive cases and have been asked to quarantine. Recognizing that 14 days can be a long period of time to quarantine, the State has recommended allowing reduced quarantine times for
asymptomatic contacts of positive COVID patients as follows:
Based on the updated guidance from CDC, the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) recommends changing the quarantine period for persons known to be close contacts of cases of COVID-19 to 10 days if:
1) Daily self-monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms has been done and

The first doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered to staff and residents of a nursing home in Connecticut.
Jean Peters, a 95-year-old resident of the Reservoir in West Hartford, was the first nursing home resident to get vaccinated. She was so pumped up, Gov. Ned Lamont said.
She said she might not be able to see her family for the holidays, but hopes to celebrate in a month or two, have her vaccines and see her family. These vials of hope have arrived. Today is a historic day and this vaccine is critical to our ability to end this pandemic, Dr. Richard Feifer, the executive vice president and chief medical officer and president of Genesis Physician Services, said.

VERNON, CT Vernon Town Administrator Michael Purcaro and the local town council this week agreed to a new four-year contract with performance-based raises.
The council Tuesday unanimously approved the deal. Purcaro is also Vernon s director of emergency and risk management, a position he has maintained since 2004.
Purcaro became Vernon s town administrator in October 2017, moving over from a six-year stint as the director of business and finance for the local public schools system

The four-year contract focuses on what council members termed performance and results. It does not include a specific pay raise, but a range of zero to 3 percent based upon annual performance reviews that will be completed by the Mayor. A satisfactory review yields a 1.5 percent raise, while a superior or outstanding evaluation would result in up to a 3 percent salary increase. The

UConn’s venerable Hawley Armory has been utilized for a multitude of purposes since it was built 106 years ago. It was the home of the school’s basketball team from 1915 to 1947, with a seating capacity of 1,400. School dances, theater productions, swim meets, and even town meetings all called Hawley Armory home during its early days.
