Public health and environmental protection officials are urging Connecticut residents to avoid swimming in some parts of the state up to 48 hours after tropical storm Elsa, out of concern the storm caused untreated sewage to be discharged.
“Given the significant rainfall that occurred in association with Tropical Storm Elsa, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut Department of Public Health are advising against recreational water contact and swimming over the next 48 hours,” a press release from DEEP said Friday.
