Simon is hoping to be adopted by….another dog! This shy 5-month-old pup didn’t have much socialization or training before arriving at the Connecticut Humane Society, and he basically isn’t sure how to be a puppy. After having playdates with other CHS dogs, Simon has grown much more confident and comfortable around people. CHS’ behavior team has also helped him by making him an “office helper” where he can watch humans around him and learn they are friends when they toss him treats. Simon must go to a home where there is another dog, and his ideal family would have experience with shy dogs. Since he’s a puppy, he will need training and lots of exercise. If there are youngsters in the home, they should be 10 and up, and understand they need to go slow with Simon as he gets used to them.

Kasey is like a new cat compared to the day she arrived at the Connecticut Humane Society. She was scared and confused and wanted to hide. So Kasey headed to a volunteer foster home where she could decompress in a quiet, cozy environment. It took a few weeks, but now she is out and about, asking for attention and showing how sweet she is. She loves when someone simply sits or lies on the ground to talk to her, and will purr the entire time.
This 13-year-old kitty would be okay living with kids if they are 10 years old and up and gentle with and respectful of pets, and she’d prefer to be your one and only pet. She’ll need time to settle into her new home; adoption counselors can give her new person tips on helping her feel comfortable.
