San Marcos CISD board approves 2 new hires

Wednesday, June 23, 2021 San Marcos Consolidated ISD will have a newAssistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, and Assessments and a new Miller Middle School Principal following approval Monday.  The SMCISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hires of Terrence M. Sanders as the new assistant superintendent, and Saumnya Lewis as the new Miller Middle School principal following a discussion in executive session.  Lewis joins the school district after serving as Manor ISD’s special education coordinator. She has previously worked as an assistant principal, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) coordinator, special education teacher and secondary teacher during her 18-year career. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas State University and has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University.

KCKPS teachers and staff begin receiving COVID-19 vaccine and last updated 2021-01-27 23:39:44-05 The Kansas City, Kansas Public School District hopes this week to give 1,000 district employees the COVID-19 vaccine. The district is working with the Wyandotte County Health Department to get shots into the arms of teachers and staff. Phase 2 of the Kansas vaccine distribution plan includes essential workers. K-12 teachers, custodians, drivers and other district staff are part of that group. “The goal for me is that we get everyone who wants the vaccine, a vaccine administered to them,” KCKPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Alicia Miguel said. About half of KCKPS employees indicated in a survey they would be interested in receiving the vaccine, a district spokesperson told 41 Action News.
