Deji Adeyanju, Co-Convener of the Concerned Nigerians Group has insinuated that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is sponsoring bandits and should be held responsible for the upsurge in security issues in the country.
Adeyanju, in a tweet via his Twitter account on Friday, wondered why Sheik Gumi who is always soliciting and asking for ransom for bandits is yet to be appended by the Buhari- led government.
According to him, the government would have put in much effort to bring an end to the constant kidnappings and killings carried out on innocent citizens by this bandits.
The State Coordinator, Comrade Abdulaziz Izmah disclosed this in a press statement made available to media organizations.
The statement said bulk of the beggars who are predominantly women and children have become more vulnerable to other social vices.
The statement further disclosed that not all the street beggars are Almajiri students, as victims displaced by bandits were forced into street begging as a result of attacks that ravaged their communities.
Although there are no statistical data of the beggars roaming the streets collected, it is clear that the number of street beggars is increasing at an alarming proportion.
Consequently, the NGO advised Katsina government, the council of Ulama, traditional and religious institutions to look into the possibilities of institutionalizing Zakkat in the State as the best means of empowerment to attain social security.
