Gov. Ron DeSantis recently expanded the requirements. Now, COVID-19 vaccines in Florida are available to anyone age 65 and above; health care workers with direct patient contact; long-term care facility residents and staff; and K-12 school employees, sworn law enforcement and firefighters who are age 50 and older.

It comes after there were glitches in the system.  According to site directors at the Edward Waters College vaccine site, the online registration system was not screening out people under 65-years-old. Therefore, basically anyone could book an appointment and show up.

The medical staff that operates the site said its digital registration program allowed people to sign up without adequately prescreening for age. Currently in Florida, only people age 65 and above and health care workers are being prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccine.
