CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Sarah Overstreet-Forte Scholarship was created by Austin Peay State University alumnus Dr. Leonard R. “Sonny” Forte (B.S. ‘63), and his late wife of 58 years, Sarah Ann Overstreet-Forte, in 2018. At that time, it was known as the Forte-Overstreet Family Scholarship Endowment. After Sarah passed away on May 30, 2020, Dr. Forte renamed the scholarship in her honor. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be enrolled full-time at APSU and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. “I will continue to honor my wife of 58 years, Sarah Ann Overstreet-Forte, by donating to her Memorial Endowed Scholarship,” Forte said.

CUMBERLAND – Twins Brendan and Shane Johnson do almost everything together, from homework at their dining room table to a list of extracurricular activities. Now the brothers have been named the top two students in Cumberland High School’s Class of 2021: Brendan, with a GPA of 4.9453, as valedictorian, and Shane, with a 4.8739 GPA, as salutatorian. Shane told The Breeze that he was surprised that both he and his brother received this honor, especially given how many talented students are in the Class of 2021. “To be able to share this honor with him, it’s extremely gratifying and humbling,” he said.
