City & County Seek Firm To Administer Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Feb 12, 2021 In January, the U.S. Department of Treasury awarded $6,383,864 to the City of Fayetteville and $3,735,545 to Cumberland County to implement the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, which was part of the year-end COVID-19 relief package. Subscribe The Treasury is overseeing and administering the program to states and counties or municipalities with populations over 200,000 people. Cumberland County and the City of Fayetteville have issued a joint Request for Proposals for qualified firms to provide administration services for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program designed to assist families struggling to make rental and utility payments. Cumberland County mother wins appeal in child neglect case

A Cumberland County mother could receive her child back after officials removed the child more than a year ago based on allegations of neglect. The Department of Social Services filed a petition alleging the baby was neglected and a “dependent juvenile” three days after being born in May 2019, court documents state. A juvenile dependent is partially defined as a child in need of assistance or placement because a parent or guardian is unable to provide for his or her care or supervision and lacks alternative child care arrangement, court documents state. A trial court awarded nonsecure custody of the baby to the Department of Social Services and appointed a guardian ad litem.
