A shooting Saturday evening in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County left 12 people wounded and two dead. As authorities investigated the incident which apparently happened after a party attended by several hundred people, they offered few details about the incident.

New Jersey State Police respond to noise complaint
At an unspecified time Saturday night, New Jersey State Police responded to a noise complaint at 7 King Drive in Fairfield, an area of the township with Bridgeton mailing addresses, according to Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan.
At about 11 p.m., the party broke up, Callahan said.
Grewal named the victims who died in the shooting as 30-year-old Kevin Elliott and 25-year-old Asia Hester. Both were from Bridgeton, Cumberland County.
There were at least 12 other people between 19 and 35 years of age who were injured in the shooting and transported to area hospitals. Most were taken by private vehicle before police arrived. At least one person was listed in critical condition. Some of the injured were released from hospitals by Monday morning.
It was estimated that there were several hundred people at the party, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
“Many others who were in attendance will carry the emotional scars of Saturday night,” Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday.

Kevin Elliot, 30, and Asia Hester, 25, have been identified as the two people who were killed when gunfire broke out at a large house party in Bridgeton New Jersey Saturday night.
FAIRFIELD TWP., N.J. - Authorities in New Jersey provided new details Monday on a mass shooting at a Bridgeton house party that claimed the lives of two people and left 12 others injured by gunfire.
New Jersey State Police say troopers responded to a report of a shooting at a home at 1029 East Commerce Street in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County around 11:50 p.m. Saturday night.
They identified the two fatalities as Kevin Elliott, 30, and Asia Hester, 25. Both were from Bridgeton.
The names of the 12 people wounded were not released in order to protect their privacy and the early stages of the investigation, police said. They said the victims included men and women, ages 19-35, from Cumberland County.
The victims with minor injuries have been released from area hospitals, but several remain hospitalized in dire condition, officials said.
Several hundred people are believed to have been at the party when gunshots rang out, but most of the attendees had fled by the time law enforcement arrived, officials said.

Officials with the New Jersey State Police and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office identified Monday the two people killed in the incident as 30-year-old Kevin Elliott and 25-year-old Asia Hester, both of Bridgeton.
The 12 people injured were men and women ranging in age from 19 to 35 years old.
