Philippines, Indonesia eye copper tie-ups

Officials from both countries met virtually on Jan. 14 to exchange information, share good practices, and present investment opportunities and areas for collaboration in the sector, the Philippine Trade department said in a statement on Friday. During the meeting, Trade Undersecretary and Board of Investments (BoI) Managing Head Ceferino S. Rodolfo said Indonesia could help the Philippines boost its copper production, transport and storage and marketing. BoI Executive Director Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa said the two countries can collaborate to boost their copper industries and improve their integration in global value chains. “This will only be one of the many bilateral initiatives for the copper industry.”

LTO 11 suspends work in Davao de Oro office until Feb 1

Land Transportation Office (LTO) (MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) Based on Memorandum No. LTO XI 2021 M-001 dated January 19 and signed by LTO regional director Neil Cañedo, work at the LTO Davao de Oro District Office was suspended effective immediately as all its personnel will undergo self-quarantine “after possible exposure to a COVID-19 positive utility worker.” “Work shall resume at 8:00 am Monday, February 1, 2021 after thorough sanitation and disinfection of workspaces and premises,” the memorandum added. As of 12:00 noon Wednesday, Jan. 20, Nabunturan town has 30 active cases of COVID-19, 91 recoveries and two deaths. Meanwhile, Davao de Oro province has recorded 11 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 179. Davao de Oro has recorded a total of 769 COVID-19 cases to date.

Authored by Deputy Speaker and Abono Partylist Rep. Conrado M. Estrella III, HB 7460 will be sent to the Senate for its approval. “Davao City-based Malagos Chocolate brought for the country the honor of winning second place in the international chocolate competition conducted in 2017 by the Academy of Chocolate in London,” revealed Estrella. “To date, Malagos has already won seven major international awards for its chocolate products, thereby earning for the country international recognition as a world class chocolate producer,” he said.
