NATICK, MA State wildlife officials have documented the first death of a bald eagle in Massachusetts due to rat poisoning, a growing problem that experts say affects several important bird species across the state.
The bald eagle was living in a nest along the Charles River in Middlesex County, and was spotted in March behaving strangely. Within a few days, the female bald eagle was dead, MassWildlife said this week. A necropsy at the Cummings Veterinary Medical Center at Tufts University confirmed the eagle died after ingesting second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide a common rat poison used by pest control companies and sold online in large quantities.

The announcement was met with mixed reactions.
She’s learned Princeton doesn’t have an appetite for apples, a traditional treat of horses.
Rather, carrots are his preferred snack.
“No wonder why you’re orange bud,” Hupfeld’s youngest daughter, 10-year-old Tessa, enthusiastically said Thursday afternoon while brushing Princeton inside the big, red barn next to her cozy home not far from the New Hampshire border.
Hupfeld has also discovered Princeton has a fondness for munching on grass, being around people and wearing his winter blanket. This all-chestnut colored Quarter Pony with the exception of a white star on his forehead is definitely no fan of the cold.
