As hospitals in Cork and across the country continue to feel the impacts of the cyber attack on the HSE, a Cork hospital has appealed for patients due to attend for certain treatments to contact them.
Cork University Hospital has asked all patients that are due to attend for chemotherapy or other treatment in the Dunmanway Day Unit or the Haematology Unit in the next seven days to contact the hospital on 021-4922324 to confirm their appointment.
CUH advises of delays in Emergency Department Cork University Hospital is exceptionally busy and it is regrettable that some patients have experienced a delay in the Emergency Department.
Patient care is paramount in CUH and this situation is being treated as a priority by Hospital Management who have taken steps to address this issue.
Hospital management have requested that, where appropriate, the public contact their GP in the first instance and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent.

South/South West Hospital Group have issued a statement to say that the Emergency Department at Cork University Hospital (CUH) is “exceptionally busy today and over the last number of days”. Due to this increased level of activity and subsequent admissions, it is regrettable that some patients may experience a delay in the ED.
The increase in attendance is due to the large number of “very ill medical patients requiring admission”.
“Patient care is paramount in CUH”. Hospital management has requested that, where appropriate, the public contact their GP/South Doc in the first instance and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent.

The number of Covid-19 cases detected in the Republic has surpassed the 100,000 mark after another daily record of infections was set on Sunday.
The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) has reported 4,962 confirmed cases of the disease, bringing to 101,887 the total number of cases recorded in the Republic since the pandemic began.
A further seven deaths of Covid-19 patients have also been reported by Nphet. This brings to 2,259, the total number of deaths in the pandemic.
Chief medical officer Dr Tony Holohan described the “really significant” surge in infections as “unsustainable” for the health service.
