Oklahoma City -
Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City plans to vaccinate 6,000 people over the age of 65 this weekend.
The two-day clinic will nearly double the number of vaccines administered by the hospital so far.
The point of dispensing, or pod, was created in partnership with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department.
The hospital was notified by the department last week that they would be receiving the extra doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Originally the clinic had enough vaccines to fill 5,600 appointments. The hospital found out Thursday it would have an additional 400 to distribute.
Appointments were scheduled over 12-hour periods on Friday and Saturday. Mercy Hospital provided 450 volunteers to help administer the vaccine and schedule patients for their booster shots.
