The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) announced its fall 2021 exhibitions, including Alphonse Mucha: Art Nouveau Visionary, opening October 23, 2021, and on view through January 23, 2022.  Czech-born Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) was one of the most influential and celebrated artists in turn-of-the-20th-century Paris. He is best known for his graphic work, such as theater posters for superstar actress Sarah Bernhardt and decorative panels and advertisements featuring graceful women. .

The Phillips Collection Announces Centennial Commissions by Three DC Artists

May 6, 2021 WASHINGTON, DC As part of its centennial celebrations, The Phillips Collection is excited to announce site-specific commissions by three DC-based artists: Wesley Clark, Nekisha Durrett, and Victor Ekpuk. But they focused Roland’s personal conviction to use art that both helps him process and heal from his experiences while engaging an unwitting public about certain fears and stereotypes about the convicted.   “My body needed to be a part of it, I needed to be involved in the engagement,” Roland said.   With what he calls the Jumpsuit Project, Roland chose to wear an orange jumpsuit, like the kind associated with inmates, wherever he appeared and traveled on the campus of UNC-Greensboro. Roland did this throughout the 2016-17 school year as he pursued his master’s degree in art.
