Dr. Chris Godwin, director of teacher education and associate faculty member in the Professional Education department, was presented the School of Education’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award is presented annually during the School of Education’s Spring Convocation; however, due to the pandemic, this event was cancelled, and the award was presented to Dr. Godwin virtually last fall.
In 1984, Godwin earned a bachelor of science degree in intermediate education with a concentration in math and science with Summa Cum Laude distinction. He continued his education at Campbell and graduated in 1986 with a Master of Education and school administration certification. He began his teaching career in Harnett County Schools, serving as a middle grades teacher, assistant principal and academically/intellectually gifted coordinator. In lieu of the regular Educator of Excellence celebration, which did not happen this year because of the cancellation of the annual Conference on Exceptional Children, the North Carolina Department of Public Instructionâs Exceptional Children Division has forged a new way for districts to recognize âoutstanding educators, related service personnel and special education support staff providing services to students with disabilities during this unprecedented time,â according to Warren County Schoolsâ website.

Tabari Wallace has been offered a new position under State Superintendent, Catherine Truitt at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as Special Advisor to the State Superintendent in the area of principal engagement.
“We are beyond proud of Mr. Wallace and all that he has accomplished for our students in Craven County Schools, said superintendent Meghan S. Doyle. He will be greatly missed in our district, but we are very happy that we will have the opportunity to continue partnering with him in this new role. We are convinced that he will return to us again in the future. Mr. Wallace’s impact has already been felt beyond our county and we are confident that he will continue to have a positive impact locally. We congratulate him and cannot wait to see all that he accomplishes in this new position.”
