A Carroll woman arrested following an Oct. 5, 2020 incident involving firearms at the Fairview Village Apartments was sentenced Thursday on weapons charges. Twenty-eight-year-old Glennisha Janancy Myers was originally charged with assault while using a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, for displaying a pistol during a dispute with 30-year-old Kamille Garnett of Carroll in the 500 block of E. 18
th Street. Myers reached an agreement with prosecutors and pled guilty to a lesser charge, carrying a handgun without a permit. In exchange for her plea, a two-year prison sentence was suspended, and Myers was placed on probation for two years nearly $1,000 in fines and surcharges were also suspended. An Arthur man was taken into custody Thursday night in Manning after attempting to flee from a traffic stop. According to Carroll County District Court records, an officer with the Manning Police Department witnessed a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox make an aggressive turn without a blinker and initiated a stop. Authorities say the driver, identified as 27-year-old Samuel Mark Giermann, refused to yield to the officer’s emergency lights and ran several stop signs before exiting the SUV and fleeing. Giermann was taken into custody following the foot pursuit. He was transported to the Carroll County jail and charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor, eluding, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
