A Carroll woman charged with assault after threatening to shoot another woman with a BB gun will go to trial next month. According to Carroll County District Court records, 44-year-old Jhanae Mattie Monique Buob originally faced one count of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, but a motion to amend the charge to a simple misdemeanor from the Carroll County Attorney’s Office was approved Jan. 20. Buob filed a not guilty plea to the lesser count with the court, and her bench trial slated to begin Thursday, April 1. A simple misdemeanor is punishable by up to 30 days in the county jail and up to $625 in fines.

A Carroll woman arrested in January for allegedly stealing a vehicle late last year made her initial appearance in Carroll County District Court today (Wednesday). According to court records, 37-year-old Katie Marie Johnson was first arrested by the Carroll Police Department on Jan. 6 after authorities found her operating a 2015 GMC Terrain that had been reported missing in Manning in November 2020. A judge issued a bench warrant for Johnson for the class D felony charge Jan. 28 after she failed to show up at a court hearing scheduled for that day. She was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday morning. She was released on her own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate. Her preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, March 11.
