An Alta woman charged with burglary following a January incident has been scheduled for trial near the end of April. According to Carroll County District Court records, 42-year-old Kristal Lynn Miller filed a not guilty plea to the class C felony charge last week and waived her right to a speedy trial. An order signed by a judge Friday sets jury proceedings to begin Tuesday, April 27 with a pretrial conference slated for April 19. Miller was arrested by the Carroll Police Department on Jan. 23 following an investigation into a reported incident the prior evening. Authorities say Miller entered a home in the 200 block of E. 10
Devin Lamar Harris, 32, of Taneytown, has been charged with felony first-degree assault and second-degree assault after police say they broke up a fight between him and a woman.
A Carroll man arrested following a September assault has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. According to Carroll County District Court records, 34-year-old Victoras John Guinan was charged following a fight outside Ossy’s Show Club in the 1200 block of Plaza Drive during the early morning hours of Sept. 27. Authorities say Guinan threatened and intimidated the victim before striking him in the face with a closed fist. According to the plea agreement filed Thursday, Guinan will be sentenced to 30 days in the Carroll County jail with all but four days suspended and credit for time served. A proposed sentencing order must be filed with the court by Feb. 25.
A Carroll man accused of using stolen checks in December has been scheduled for trial at the end of April. Carroll County District Court records show 26-year-old Corey Allen Mutum pled not guilty Thursday to two counts of forgery, a class D felony, and fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor. The charges stem from an investigation by the Carroll Police Department, which alleges Mutum fraudulently used two of the victim’s checks on Dec. 19 totaling $372. His jury trial is slated to begin on Tuesday, April 27 with a pretrial conference on April 8. If found guilty, he faces up to 10 years in prison and $16,875 in fines.
