A Carroll man was taken into custody Tuesday by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding arrest warrant for motor vehicle burglary. Carroll County District Court records show 18-year-old Austin Lee Wheeler is accused of third-degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor. A Carroll Police Department affidavit says he and 19-year-old Dalton Lee Andrew Maples stole items from a pickup truck parked in the 100 block of North Clark Street on the evening of Nov. 5. Wheeler was released from custody on his own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate on Tuesday. His preliminary hearing is slated for Thursday, Jan. 7. He faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison and $6,250 in fines if found guilty of the charge.

A Carroll man was taken into custody yesterday (Tuesday) after allegedly breaking into a residence early Monday morning. According to Carroll County District Court records, 30-year-old Brice Edward Shrimpton is accused of kicking in the door of an occupied home on Court Street at approximately 2:48 a.m. Authorities say Shrimpton then entered the property and harassed, threatened and caused the occupants, including an individual with a protective order against Shrimpton, to fear for their safety. Police were called to the scene, but Shrimpton had fled by the time they arrived. He was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony. Shrimpton was released Wednesday after appearing before a magistrate. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday. Dec. 31.
