Wall Lake Man Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Drug Possession; Trial Set To Begin April 27

A Wall Lake man charged with felony drug possession pled not guilty last week and is scheduled for trial later this spring. According to Carroll County District Court records, 23-year-old Andrew Daryl Adams, who has also reported a residence in Spencer, faces two counts of third-offense possession of a controlled substance, class D felonies. The charges stem from a May 2020 traffic stop by the Carroll Police Department during the early morning hours. Authorities say Adams admitted to having narcotics in his car and a subsequent search located methamphetamine and nearly 20 pills of alprazolam, more commonly known as Xanax. A judge ordered jury proceedings to begin on Tuesday, April 27 with a pretrial conference on April 8. Each class D felony carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.

Trial Information Filed Against Carroll Man Ups Drug Possession Charge To Felony

A charge levied against a Carroll man arrested at the beginning of February for drug possession has been elevated to a felony according to trial information filed Monday in Carroll County District Court. Fifty-six-year-old Michael O’Hara Sherrod faces one count of third-offense possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, a class D felony with a habitual offender enhancement. Authorities say a camera-shaped pill was seized during a Dec. 5 traffic stop in Carroll and testing from the Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed the substance was methamphetamine. Sherrod has a history of drug-related convictions dating back to 1998 including possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in 2000 and 2010 in Buena Vista and Union Counties, respectively. Sherrod’s arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, March 11. A class D felony carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
