The Friends of the Berryville Library has named Keith Rivera the newest recipient of the Carla Youngblood Community Service Award recognizing individuals who have made this community a better place to live and work. Pictured from left to right are Berryville Friends of the Library members Paul Engskov, LeaAnn Jackson, Rivera, Kriste-Lee, Carla Youngblood, Carol Ann Engskov and Friends president Mary Knight. Riveras name will be placed on a perpetual plaque that is hung prominently in the library along with a paper certificate. He donated his $25 cash award to the Carroll County Historical Society. Rivera owns businesses in Berryville and Eureka Springs and has been actively involved in community efforts from renovating the Garners Drive-In sign in Berryville to offering shelter to essential workers and residents without power or water during Februarys winter storms.
More funding requests and a recommendation from the Carroll County Compensation Board are on Monday’s agenda for the Carroll County Board of Supervisors. The 9 a.m. meeting features annual budget discussions and funding requests from the Carroll Area Child Care Center, New Opportunities, the Manning Child Care Center and the Carroll County Historical Society. The Supervisors will also discus employee retirements/resignations and review a recommendation from the compensation board for a six percent annual salary increase for the Carroll County Sheriff and four percent for all other elected officials. In their ongoing efforts to adhere to COVID-19 mitigation methods, the meeting will be livestreamed on the county’s YouTube channel, a link to which is included below.
