Georgia receives $6.5M in grants for Law Enforcement Training program

ATLANTA, Ga. (WTXL) â During the 2020 legislative session, Governor Brian Kemp recommended and lawmakers approved the creation of a law enforcement training grant program through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for state and local law enforcement agencies.
On Wednesday it came to fruition.
Kemp announced the award of 63 grants in the amount of $6,756,389 for the Law Enforcement Training Grant Program Wednesday afternoon. We are committed to giving law enforcement officers across the state specialized training and resources needed to provide the best possible public safety to Georgiaâs citizens,â said Gov. Authorities in west Georgia say they are concerned for the welfare of a man who hasn't been seen since the end of the week. Carrollton Police said that 52-year-old John Jeffrey Chaney was last seen on Thursday or Friday in the area of Beulah Church Road. Police said he usually bikes or walks. Carrollton Police said that 52-year-old John Jeffrey Chaney was last seen on Thursday or Friday in the area of Beulah Church Road. Police said he usually bikes or walks. Authorities haven t provided any additional information on his disappearance.
They re currently unsure what he was wearing the last time he was seen. They re currently asking anyone with information about his location to call 911 or the Carrollton Police Department at 770-834-4451. The investigator in charge of the case is Brandon Wilson.
No officers hurt in drive-by shooting at Carrollton Police Department

CARROLLTON, Texas - Several Carrollton police officers had to duck for cover during an early-morning drive-by shooting at the police station.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carrollton Police Department’s headquarters on Jackson Road.
Police said someone drove by and fired multiple shots at the building.
Three officers who were arriving for their shift had to duck down to avoid being shot. They were not hurt. That first shot was followed by about seven to eight more shots, said Chief Derick Miller. One of the officers advised that they heard the round hit the fence which caused the officers to duck and take cover in the parking lot. A vehicle was seen in the exact same moment coming from the east to the west at a high rate of speed.
