BENGALURU: A loud sound heard around 12.30pm Friday across west and south Bengaluru sparked off panic and speculation. While authorities ruled out an earthquake, no one seemed to know what caused it even 12 hours after the incident.
Residents of RR Nagar, Kengeri and Vijayanagar, Banashankari and Jayanagar, among other areas, reported hearing the sound and noticed the rattling of doors and windows. Many got alarmed thinking it was an earthquake. Some thought it was a sonic boom resulting from a fighter aircraft. Soon, Twitter was abuzz with posts speculation about it and whether Friday being UFO Day had anything to do with it.
