Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], December 24 (ANI): Buses of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, autorickshaws and cabs will operate during night curfew which starts from Thursday night, said Karnataka Transport Minister Laxman Savadi.
The government of Karnataka has imposed a night curfew in the state from December 24 to January 2, 2021, in the wake of the detection of a new strain of coronavirus in the UK, some recent returnees from Britain were tested positive for the COVID-19.
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa tweeted, The night curfew in the state of Karnataka will be enforced from 24.12.2020 to January 01, 2021, from 11:00 pm to 5:00 pm (dated 02.01.2021 at 5:00 am).
What about public transport, auto and cab operations?
According to the guidelines, the movement of long-distance night bus, trains and flights are also permitted. “To and fro movement of taxis and auto are permitted for dropping or pickup of people to or from bus stops, railway stations and airports. The movement will be allowed on displaying valid tickets,” the order said. Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus will operate normally, BMTC PRO confirmed.
TS Latha, public relations officer, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), said buses will ply as usual during this period.
Are new year and Christmas celebrations allowed?
The Karnataka government has permitted Midnight Mass on December 24 night as per guidelines already issued on December 17. The order has specified that organisers and supervisors at churches must ensure that large gatherings are avoided at one time and social distancing is maintained.

Bengaluru, Dec 24: In what comes as a recent development, Commissioner of Police and Additional District Magistrate, Bengaluru has given a nod to hold midnight Christman mass in the city on December 24.
This development comes after Karnataka Transport Minister Laxman Savadi said that the buses of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate during night curfew. It is also said that autorickshaws and cabs will also be allowed to continue their services between 11 pm and 5 am.

As the Karnataka government announced night curfew across the state, Transport Minister Laxman Savadi on Thursday said that the buses of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will operate during night curfew. Besides, autorickshaws and cabs will also be allowed to continue their services between 11 pm and 5 am.Â
The announcement comes after Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa released a statement that night curfew will be imposed across the state, between 10 pm and 6 am, starting December 24. The curfew will continue till January 2.Â
Karnataka also issued coronavirus guidelines in the wake of new coronavirus strain found in the UK which states that all passengers (arriving from the United Kingdom by airports, or seaports in Bengaluru and Mangaluru) will have to undergo RT-PCR tests within 72 hours of their arrival.Â
