Transport Department officials on Monday seized four buses at Attibele check post belonging to a private operator in Andhra Pradesh. He was allegedly plying the buses between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu via Bengaluru in violation of the lockdown rules. Though the police seized the buses, arrangements were made for Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses to ferry the passengers to their destination.

After introducing ‘oxygen-on-wheels’, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to provide ‘ICU on wheels’ service.
KSRTC MD Shivyogi C. Kalasad said that the bus will be converted into an ambulance-like setup and have five oxygenated beds, ventilators and other medical equipment, emergency medicine facility, generator for electricity, and others. “We have already provided oxygen on wheel services at various places in the state. Moving forward, we are planning for a mobile ICU unit. We will reach an understanding with a hospital to run this mobile unit. On a pilot basis, we have converted the bus into a mobile ICU unit and it will be stationed near a hospital in the city,” said the official.

The state government had previously appointed IAS officer Shivayogi Kalasad, the managing director of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, as an investigating officer to probe the matter within three days.

The Karnataka government on Wednesday appointed retired High Court judge Justice B A Patil as the one-man commission to inquire into the death of 24 COVID patients in Chamarajanagar district allegedly owing to oxygen shortage.
A notification regarding the appointment of Justice Patil was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary in the Home Department, Rajneesh Goel on Wednesday.
The term of reference of the Commission read, To inquire into the circumstances and events leading to the death of COVID-19 patients in District Hospital, Chamarajanagar on May 3, reportedly due to scarcity of oxygen and any further similar incidents, which are entrusted to the Commission of Inquiry by Government.
