To be shifted back after total renovation of Boys Hostel
Mysore/Mysuru: With leaking and plaster falling off the roof at Under-Graduate Boys Hostel, the authorities of
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) are accommodating first year medical students in Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) hostel, off Hunsur Road, till the renovation of the existing building on JLB Road in city is completed.
The rooms, situated on third floor of the UG Medical Hostel for Boys, were in a bad condition with the peeled plaster falling on students. The Hostel was built 50 years ago to house the UG medicos who seek admission to Government Medical College, Mysuru. Over the years, due to lack of maintenance, the Hostel building had become unfit for occupation.

A study on the functioning and structure of Children’s Homes under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, will soon be taken up by the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP), University of Mysore.
The study, the first of its kind, will be carried out across 10 States in the country.
Open Book Exam

The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) will be publishing Open Book Exam questionnaire on website its www.ksoumysuru.ac.in today for those students who have paid exam fees for first year BA, B.Com, first year MA, M.Com, first semester M.Sc and first and third semester MBA for the academic year 2019-20 (July-January session). Students have been instructed to send all handwritten answers on both sides of A4 size white answer sheets through speed post or registered post in a cover (mandatorily in a single cover) to the Registrar (Evaluation), KSOU, Muktagangothri, Mysuru-06 before Feb. 8.

Mangalore University has decided to challenge in court a recent notification of the State government which offered the exclusive right of conducting Open and Distance Learning (ODL) courses to Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) in Mysuru.
The decision has been taken as otherwise with the government’s notification Mangalore University will be forced to wound up its Centre of Distance Education which offers distance education courses.
Vice-Chancellor of the university P.S. Yadapadithaya told
The Hindu that the issue was discussed in detail in the meeting of the Syndicate, the highest decision making body of the university, on Monday and it was decided to approach court in the matter seeking remedy.
Mangalore University Syndicate members to decide whether to continue to offer them at all
The Syndicate of Mangalore University, which is scheduled to meet on Monday, will deliberate upon whether to continue offering distance education courses through its Centre of Distance Education.
Conventional universities in the State have now begun in-house deliberations following a recent decision of the State government which offered the exclusive right of offering Open and Distance Learning (ODL) courses to Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) in Mysuru. The State government issued a Gazette notification on this last month after amending the Karnataka State Universities and Certain Other Law (second amendment) Act 2020.
