Bakersfield Police release case update for missing West boys

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â The Bakersfield Police Department released a case update for the disappearance of Orrin and Orson West, who went missing on Dec. 21, 2020, in California City.
According to BPD, in connection to this case, 83 people have been interviewed, 44 search warrants have been conducted on residences and electronic devices, 170 items have been seized, over 200 tips have been received, `16 mass area searches have been conducted and three searches have been conducted outside of California.
The West boys, 3-year-old Orson and 4-year-old Orrin, have been on the minds of law enforcement officers and the community for over five months now. Many questions remain surrounding their disappearance.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â (UPDATE 4:30 PM): The Kern County Sheriff s Office said the incident in East Bakersfield that led to an apparent standoff started as a domestic incident.
KCSO said the couple involved in the incident were barricaded inside the residence. The woman was able to get out of the residence but the man remained barricaded and was believed to be armed.
After a while KCSO was able to take the man into custody without incident.
No injuries were reported.
The Kern County Sheriff s Office and Bakersfield Police have responded to the area of Steele Avenue and Exchange Street in East Bakersfield.
Man arrested on suspicion of murder of woman in Ridgecrest

RIDGECREST, Calif. (KERO) â The Kern County Sheriff s Office arrested 20-year-old Daniel Gunnarsson on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Ridgecrest.
According to KCSO, deputies responded to the area of Skylark Avenue in Ridgecrest Tuesday morning where they found a woman with trauma to the body. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gunnarsson was found and arrested Tuesday night.

The Kern County Sheriffâs Office (KCSO) has a message for citizens concerned about illegal weed grow-ops: Yes, it takes the issue seriously, but no it wonât investigate until it determines if the substance is illegal weed or legal hemp.
In California, both medical and recreational cannabis are legal, but there are restrictions in terms of how much a person can possess or grow for personal use. In many parts of the state, outdoor growing is not allowed and this can only be done if permitted under local regulations.
