Louisiana Woman Accused of Selling Fake Auto Policies on Facebook Marketplace March 11, 2021
State police have arrested a Louisiana woman accused of selling fraudulent auto insurance policies. The majority of the victims saw the woman’s advertisement for automobile coverage on Facebook Market Place, according to the Louisiana State Police (LSP).
The LSP’s Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft (IFAT) Field Office said a complaint received from a local insurance agency in June 2020 claimed that 25-year-old Brianna Phillips of Pineville was selling fake policies labeled as being from Safeway Insurance Company of Louisiana.
An LSP investigation discovered Philips sold fraudulent automobile insurance policies to several victims. She then would provide the victims with a fraudulent declaration page and a fraudulent insurance card.
Deputies took the initial report and Sheriffâs Detectives responded to conduct the follow up investigation.
Detectives quickly identified Koby Lex Saucier, 19, of Boyce as a suspect. After conducting a lengthy investigation, which included interviews of the victim at the Rapides Childrenâs Advocacy Center, Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause that supported the original, as well as additional allegations.
Warrants were granted for Saucierâs arrest in reference to one count Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, one count Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and one count Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor. Saucier was take into custody on March 8 without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center in reference to the active warrants. On January 5, 2021, Rapides Parish Sheriff s Office deputies responded to a complaint of criminal sexual conduct involving juveniles under the age of thirteen that allegedly occurred in the Boyce, LA area.
Detectives initiated their investigation and identified Mark Anthony Jones, 66, of Boyce, as a suspect. From their investigation, Detectives were able to execute a search warrant at Jones residence where items of evidence supporting the allegations were discovered. Also located in the residence were various electronic storage devices which were later found to contain suspected child pornography. Sufficient probable cause was established that supported both the original and new allegations and warrants were granted for Jones arrest.
