Subscriber only A man who moved to the Coast to leave his deplorable life of crime behind him has landed before the court again after police found a weapon in his roof. Adding to his 19-page criminal history, Kerrod Tighe pleaded guilty on Wednesday to unlawful possession of a category M weapon and possessing utensils or pipes that had been used. The Caloundra Magistrates Court heard police found the illegal taser and drug utensils during a search of Tighe s house on January 7. Police prosecutor Mark Burrell said the officers, who were there in relation to another matter, saw a bowl with a small amount of green material which sparked the search.

Last year s wild Australia Day brawl at Eleanor Shipley Park in Moffat Beach displayed some of the worst behaviour towards police. Acting Inspector John Mahony recently told the
Daily police officers involved were used as human punching bags when they tried to break up the brawl. The teenagers abused, attacked and threw rubbish including bottles at the officers as they tried to restrain them. Three police officers were injured in the brawl, with one taken to hospital.

The court heard Tuckwood said he had a knife in his pants, and officers searched him. A 15cm blade was found secreted between his buttocks, Senior Constable Burrell said. When asked why he was carrying the knife Tuckwood said only have you seen Caboolture? . Tuckwood pleaded guilty in Caloundra Magistrates Court on Wednesday to possessing a knife in public and obstructing police. Deni Jai Carr is charged with obstructing police, assault occasioning bodily harm and assaulting a police officer in a public place while adversely affected. Sen-Const Burrell said the fact that the knife was hidden where it was meant Tuckwood knew he shouldn t have had it, and that it could have posed a threat to police.
