A former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Cross River State, Barr (Mrs) Rosemary Obanya has decried the domination of the political space by men even though women are more in terms of population.
Speaking with DAILY POST, the former Attorney General who is the Chairman, Bar/Bench Forum, Calabar Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) said it’s regrettable that the men continue to dominate even when they are more than them.
“The women have woken up now and they are now working for what they want to achieve. I have confidence in women because, women are hard working, women have integrity, it’s just that in the past, women were expected that things should be given to them on the platter of gold, but there is no free launch,” Mrs Obanya noted
The United Kingdom, UK, has expressed its readiness to return looted assets by former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, worth £4.2 million to Nigeria.
Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has warned the Department of State Services, DSS, Nigerian Army, and the police against killing farmers in the Southwest and Southeast.
Igboho warned that there would be trouble if DSS, police and Army go after innocent farmers while enforcing the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari’s shoot on sight order of those caught with AK-47.
He issued the warning in a video posted on Twitter by a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.
The activist urged the security agencies to be fair in carrying out the directive by the President.
Speaking in Yoruba language, Igboho said:” My name is Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. Concerning President Buhari’s directive to kill any herdsmen found with AK-47, we are happy with this decision. It’s not like these Fulani herdsmen are just carrying guns, they have been doing that since and it is not new.
