.- Body/Magic: Liz Cohen presents all aspects of Phoenix-based artist Liz Cohens well-known Bodywork series for the first time. The exhibition at ASU Art Museum offers new and never-before-seen video, photographs, performance and ephemera related to this tour-de-force project.
For the original Bodywork series, Cohen merged two cars, the American El Camino and the East German Trabant, into one customized lowrider. Simultaneously, she transformed her own body to become a bikini model for her car, which she presented at lowrider shows in and around Phoenix, Arizona. In the car show, there are really three kinds of people, said the artist. There are the car owners, the car builders and the models that represent the cars. I want to be all three. Husband-and-wife architects Melissa Szpik Serrao and Jay Serrao have been practicing together for more than a quarter century. They met in the mid-1990s as architecture students at California College of the Arts and worked for the same downtown San Francisco firm before founding their own design and architectural firm in 1998.
In 2007, the couple bought an urban infill lot in Sacramento’s Land Park neighborhood, walkable to a number of nearby amenities. The office, which is a more public space, is oriented toward the north and faces the street. The bedrooms and living areas, which are more private, open to the rear and the south where the natural Delta breeze cools the rooms. The home’s signature element, a decidedly modern butt

Part “Beavis and Butt-Head” and part “Looney Tunes,” “Frag Out” follows the exploits of Marines Buck and Chuck, who experience perpetual boredom while standing post in a desert war zone.

In December 2019, before anyone had heard the term “novel coronavirus,” and certainly before any of us anticipated entering a monthslong shelter-in-place order, Rasiga Gowrisankar attended an Etsy craft fair in San Francisco and purchased some embroidery kits containing designs and supplies for crafting embroidered works of art.
