The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) sued the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) to obtain materials showing how police are trained in the use of force, after the organization cited third-party copyright interests to illegally withhold them from the public.

Police departments in Santa Clara County will soon be required to track vaccination rates among employees, broadening public knowledge of which law enforcement agencies are successfully immunizing their officers. Under a May 18 county health order, businesses and government entities must determine which employees are vaccinated by June 1, and staff who are not fully vaccinated must wear face masks and follow COVID-19 public health protocols.

Assemblywoman Shirley Weber doesn’t pick her fights with great consideration of who her opponents are.
If she did, she probably wouldn’t attempt to change how police use deadly force or raise the bar for teacher tenure.
Law enforcement organizations and teachers unions are among the strongest interest groups at the state Capitol, and they really don’t like what she has been trying to do.
But anyone who has talked with the San Diego Democrat or heard her speak in the Legislature can not only feel her passion but understand why she’s not daunted by big obstacles.
