Appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine are in high demand, and despite limited supplies, some Riverside County providers still have extra doses at the end of each clinic day. Whether its due to top-notch syringes squeezing out more than expected or some patients just not showing up, providers are feeling the pressure to use every coveted drop.
Even if it occasionally means jumping ahead in the state s tiered system. We always have extra doses at the end of the day, said Brian Hodgkins, executive vice president of clinical operations at Desert Oasis Healthcare. I think everybody is doing their best not to waste any vaccine.
Last weekend, Jonatan Cvetko drove to a fire station in South L.A. and got vaccinated.
He’s not a senior citizen who is at particularly high risk of dying from COVID-19. Nor does he work at a hospital, spending his days and nights tending to critically ill patients on ventilators.
He does, however, own a cannabis shop. And as of last week, that alone makes Cvetko eligible to get his first dose right now ahead of most teachers and cops in Los Angeles County, not to mention bus drivers and grocery store clerks. All he had to do was make an appointment online and bring along his work badge and paystub to show those on staff at the fire station just in case.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2021) – Bills introduced in the California legislature would authorize the legal sale of food and food additives containing CBD within the state. This would not only open up markets in California, but it would also a crucial step given the FDA’s continued prohibition of the same.
Assm. Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) profiled Assembly Bill 45 (AB45) last December. Sen. Benjamin Allen (D-Hollywood) introduced the companion, Senate Bill 235 (SB235), on Jan. 19. The legislation would allow cannabinoids and other hemp extracts to be added to dietary supplements, food, beverages, cosmetics and pet food. The bill declares that a dietary supplement, food, beverage, cosmetic, or pet food is not adulterated by the inclusion of industrial hemp or cannabinoids, extracts, or derivatives from industrial hemp as long as it meets state specifications.

The class of 2021 has spent over half of their senior year away from school, missing out on all of the traditional and memorable experiences that come with the last year of high school. With the uncertainty of the pandemic over the next few months, many senior activities like prom, grad nights, trips, picnics and graduations are listed as TBD (to be determined).
At the Feb. 1 San Dieguito Union High School District special meeting, SDUHSD President Mo Muir established a subcommittee on senior events planning, to make sure no student misses out on celebrating this less-than-normal but no less important year. Muir proposed that the committee include board members Michael Allman and Melisse Mossy, site principals and a parent from each high school campus.
