California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) officials received a complaint that the saloon owner was selling fake vaccination cards and opened an investigation in April, according to the agency. Undercover ABC agents allegedly purchased fraudulent vaccination cards from the Old Corner Saloon on multiple occasions in April, the agency said. “Agents arrested the owner of the business on allegations of selling the fraudulent cards,” a California ABC Spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “He was booked at the local county jail on charges of violating Penal Code Section 471.5 (altering a medical record), Penal Code Section 472 (forgery of a public seal), Penal Code Section 530.5 (identity theft), and Penal Code Section 182(a) (conspiracy).”

Hixenbaugh says he was having a drink in his bar after hours while interviewing a potential employee last August when three undercover agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) came in. They then cited him for allegedly serving alcohol indoors, which was against public health orders at the time.

After having its license suspended late last year following numerous complaints, Grass Valley’s 1849 Brewing Co. will now be allowed to expand its hours and its beer garden. On Tuesday the Grass Valley Planning Commission approved a use permit amendment allowing the bar to stay open an extra hour. Its new hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Last October the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) suspended the bar’s alcohol license for 45 days for operating a “Disorderly Premises,” citing allegations of public drunkenness, fights, assaults, reports of illegal drugs, public urination and noise complaints.
