Several different agencies have roadwork projects around the Lake Tahoe Basin from spring to fall. Each week we publish projects planned by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the County of El Dorado and the City of South Lake Tahoe. Until May, road work in the Lake Tahoe area will be limited.

Overnight Roadwork - on US-50 in both directions from Stateline to Lake Parkway in Douglas County Nevada. Intermittent lane closures nightly, Monday thru Thursday 7 PM to 6 AM. Estimated End Time is 6:00 AM on 04/22/21.

Californiaâs Beautiful Highway 1 At Big Sur To Reopen Soon

When part of Californiaâs scenic Highway 1 along Big Sur was washed out last January, initial plans called for repairs to be finished this summer. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has now announced that work is proceeding ahead of plan and the stretch of highway will reopen by April 30.
âReopening Highway 1 at Rat Creek just three months after a washout of this magnitude is great news for residents, recreationists, business owners, and those who move goods through this region,â Caltrans Director Toks Omishakin said in a statement. âCaltrans has been focused on the emergency work needed to increase the resiliency of this highway section to extreme weather, and the fixes made will allow for safe travel.â
Monday, April 12
Southbound State Route 73 (SR-73) offramp to Bison Avenue from 12 a.m. until 4 a.m. for sign work.
Northbound SR-133 offrampe to Irving Boulevard from 12 a.m. until 4 a.m. to sign work.
Portola Parkway, Irvine onramp to southbound SR-241 from 12 a.m. until 4 a.m. for sign work.
Southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) offramp to Lake Forest from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for striping operation.
Monday, April 12 to Tuesday, April 13
Southbound SR-241 lane 2 from Los Alisos Boulevar to Santa Margarita Parkway from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. for sign work.
Northbound SR-133 lanes 2 and 3 from I-5 to Irvine Boulevard from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. for sign work.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lanes are open to motorists on Northbound and Southbound Interstate 5 between the Ventura Freeway (State Route 134) interchange in Los Angeles and Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank.
With the opening of this new 2.7-mile-long segment of carpool lanes, there remains only one final segment to complete in Burbank before motorists have continuous HOV lanes stretching more than 18 miles on I-5 from State Route 134 to State Route 14 (Antelope Valley Freeway) near Santa Clarita.
The final 2.2-mile link is under construction in Burbank between Magnolia Boulevard and Buena Vista Street. It is scheduled for completion by early 2022 including a new I-5 Burbank Boulevard bridge and interchange.
