A major snowstorm began cranking Tuesday afternoon across California, leading to road closures and potential accidents.
The most dangerous conditions for drivers will continue to occur in the Sierra Nevada, from far eastern California to far western Nevada, as well as the Mount Shasta region of northern California.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The following is a list of the long term and short term projects the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled for the week around Lake Tahoe, in the Sierra and El Dorado County. At this time there is no work scheduled for the South Lake Tahoe area.
LONG-TERM PROJECTS
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $55.4 million safety project in the Camino area to replace the existing concrete median barrier and fill in the gaps in the barrier, build an undercrossing, a wildlife crossing, make local road improvements and replace culverts. The project is expected to be completed in 2022. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway. Westbound Carson Road is closed between Carson Court and Sierra Blanca Road for bridge work. Motorists are being detoured onto westbound Highway 50 and back onto Carson Road.

Granite (NYSE:GVA) has been awarded the Cosumnes Bridge Parent Package of the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) contract for the Cosumnes Bridge Replacement Project by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in Sacramento County, California. This CMGC contract is the final award of a seven-part phased delivery of the overall $167 million project. This $48 million contract is anticipated to be included in Granite’s first quarter 2021 backlog.

Granite Awarded $20 Million Four-Lane Widening Project in California’s Central Valley

Granite (NYSE:GVA) announced that it has been awarded a $20 million contract by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for the State Route 46 4-Lane Widening Project in Lost Hills, California. The contract is anticipated to be included in Granite’s first quarter 2021 backlog.
The project widens State Route 46 from a two-lane to a four-lane highway between post miles 29.7 and 31.9 in Kern County. Scope of work includes the construction of two new lanes, a bridge over the California Aqueduct, a high-intensity activated crosswalk beacon at the State Route 46/Bruning Avenue intersection, a large drainage basin on the west side of Lost Hills Road, as well as curb, gutter, and crosswalks throughout the town of Lost Hil
