But that search has ended, with the board instead deciding to hire Rizzo. Rizzo began his career as a band director in the East Allegheny School District in 1993. Since that time, he has served as a band director for Penn Hills School District and Indiana Area School District, as well as an assistant principal at Indiana Area Senior High School, principal at Ben Franklin Elementary School, coordinator of instructional technology for Indiana Area School District, and most recently, assistant superintendent of the Indiana Area School District. Rizzo is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Educational Leadership: Instructional Technology through Wilkes University. He earned his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility in 2015 from California University of Pennsylvania, his Principal Certification and Master of Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Penn State University.

Penn State Fayette names outstanding alumnus, fellow

Robert L. Mocniak The Outstanding Alumnus award honors former students of the campus whose subsequent professional achievement warrants special recognition by their alma mater. Mocniak grew up in Greene County and began his studies at Penn State Fayette in 1966, when the campus was located in downtown Uniontown. He earned an associate’s degree in electrical and electronic technology from Penn State Fayette in 1968 and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University Park in 1971. Mocniak worked at Robicon Corporation, in Pittsburgh, as a design engineer, designing and developing drives and coordinated systems for various industries. He later transitioned to sales and marketing, positioning Robicon as the premier supplier of DC drive systems for retrofit of blast furnace skip hoist controls in the steel industry, for which he won an award.

Cal U plans to return to normal campus life in August

California University of Pennsylvania expects to resume a full schedule of in-person classes, on-campus events and student activities in late August if the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wane. University employees and guests will transition gradually over the summer as telework winds down and they return to campus, the school said Friday. The university said it hopes students and employees will monitor their own health and use the honor system when deciding how to interact safely with others under masking guidelines. Cal U said as vaccinations become readily available and coronavirus infections decline, it’s easing back toward a more typical college experience.
